I have always been interested in writing, communications and marketing. I have worked for newspapers as a staff writer and columnist, as well as a marketing department at a law firm. I believe that I can provide a valuable skill set to any industry that utilizes social media and marketing as an integral tool to their success. I also play the guitar and saxophone. I have a deep passion for music. I'm in a cover band that plays all over the East Coast. It's a lot of fun!!

What it Means to Be a Part of Intramural and Club Sports
As the Spring 2013 semester comes to a close at Montclair State University, Campus Recreation continues to promote events and tournaments regarding its Club and Intramural Sports department. The main goal of Campus Recreation and its programs—since its inception—has been to create an inclusive environment where students can feel comfortable enough to become involved and participate in various sports events.
Andrea’s Departure Met With Uproarious Applause
Apart from being an avid Game of Thrones fan, I have also been sucked into the survival horror that is AMC’s The Walking Dead. The series just ended its third season this past Sunday on epic high notes. In order to not give away too many spoilers (there will be some, so readers beware), I will focus primarily on the character, Andrea (Laurie Holden), and how her death has brought undoubted joy to many of those infatuated with the show (and consequently with hating her character).

Ballroom Dance Hosts Free Lesson for Students
Over 36 students tangoed their way into the Recreation Center this past Wednesday night as the Ballroom Dance Club hosted a free dance class to attract prospective members. Both familiar and new faces alike were present at the event, including the club’s new dance instructor, Carrie Babcock. With a significantly larger turnout than this past fall, the dance club’s goal to establish a competitive team for the 2013 year seems all the more plausible as the spring semester progresses.

Campus Rec Hosts Zumbathon for Melanoma Research
Last Wednesday, close to 50 men and women put some serious pep in their step as Campus Recreation held a “Zumbathon” in order to raise money and awareness about melanoma, a rare and often terminal cancer of the skin. During the hour-long event in which loud music, dancing and laughter permeated throughout the gymnasium, over $600 was raised, once again illustrating the selfless type of care and support those affiliated with Montclair State University are willing to put forth toward noble causes.

Moreover, many resident and college students are still left without power or homes. Kevin Schafer, Assistant Director for Housing Assignments commented on the current conditions staying on campus. “We currently have over 200 communters staying with us. We still have about 18 faculty, staff and families in Webster Hall.

One Man’s Journey Through the Infinite Time-Hair Continuum
Week 1: During the Summer months, I made the decision to grow out my beard with the initial intent to complement a custom Game of Thrones costume I will be donning this upcoming Halloween. If only I knew by making this commitment that I’d be putting my very essence into a difficult and arduous transformation, I may have been more hesitant to undertake such an endeavor.

Campus Rec Hosts Third Annual “Breast Cancer Awareness Week”
The “Making Strides against Breast Cancer” walk that was held this past Sunday in Parsippany marked the beginning of the third annual “Breast Cancer Awareness Week” for Montclair State University’s Campus Recreation Center. Alex Sperling, Aquatics and Summer Programs Coordinator at Campus Recreation, noted the progression of involvement with charities up to this year.

I received my BA in writing studies from Rowan University in May of 2008, and am currently finishing my MA in English from Montclair State University. I've returned to school because I want to increase my marketability to prospective employers, and also have the means to someday pursue a career within academia.

As a hobby, I love playing music. My main instrument is the guitar, but I also play the saxophone. I've always been involved with music projects, and would like to someday use my talents in combination with my career. Currently I am the lead guitar player for a popular New Jersey-based cover band called The Event Horizon. We play all over the East Coast during the weekends, two to three times a week usually. It is a lot of fun!!
